A pile of life-sized stuffed animals have been dumped outside a donation box at a shop in Costessey.

A member of the public found the cuddly cheetahs and tigers in the car park next to the One Stop shop on Wednesday and shared a photo of the haul on Facebook.

People then scrambled to claim the toys and they disappeared within the hour.

Claire Angelina rushed to collect one of the big cats, naming him Steve, and plans to give him a new home.

"When I arrived it looked like all the other large toys had been taken before I got there," she said.

"I'm planning to fix Steve up, he has a hole in his paw and is looking a bit floppy.

"Maybe I'll donate him to a nursery or sell him once he is fixed."

It is not known who dumped the stuffed animals outside the shop.

The One Stop in Costessey is closing on June 16 after serving the community for a number of years.
