Johnson County animal shelter helping victims of Helene with pet supplies

Oct 24, 2024

People devastated by Helene in Johnson County and beyond are getting help with their pets.

The county's small animal shelter, Rescue Dog and End of Life Sanctuary, had kennels damaged during the flooding, but everything has now been repaired.

Now, they are their attention to making sure flood victims have all the supplies they need to keep their animals.

The rescue's founder, Melissa Gentry, tells us they appreciate all the support that they have received.

"It’s amazing what Johnson County has done," Gentry said. "The residents are so resilient. We have had calls about dogs that were in the flood that we have rescued, but Johnson County has come together. It’s amazing."

If you would like to donate supplies or are in need, reach out to the animal shelter at 423-956-2564 or email [email protected].
