Hurricane victims receive free pet food, supplies

Oct 17, 2024

OHIO — To support Hurricane Helene relief efforts, Summit County Animal Control in partnership with Keller Farms and Whispering Acres Animal Sanctuary donated 11 pallets of animal food, litter, cages and other equipment.

The donation includes supplies for dogs, cats, waterfowl, rabbits, horses and other animals.

“Once we saw the damage in the aftermath of the hurricane, we knew we had to do something,” said Summit County Executive Ilene Shapiro. “Summit County steps up when we see communities in need.”

The donation supports the Farmers Helping Farmers — Hurricane Helene Relief effort, by providing medical supplies, feed and other necessities to affected residents. Keller Farms organized a caravan that will deliver at least 33 trucks, including two semis, to Boone, North Carolina.
